Welcome back
In the early hours of Jan 12th, we silently switched over to our new beta site!
Asorock.com is now running on the EndApps platform. We have so much planned for Asorock.com and the associated sister websites that the most important feature of any platform we select must be one thing: flexibility. And EndApps has that in spades. We now feel confident that we have the right foundation to build-out Asorock.com for the next several years.
What is different?
The old asorock.com had 3 major areas:
- News,
- Community, and
- Features.
Similarly, the new Asorock.com has 3 main areas:
- News
- Media and
- Topics
We migrated all the forum posts and features from the old asorock.com into the Topics area of the new asorock.com.
The News area is like the old, but in the new asorock.com, the News pages is now driven by an AI enhanced search and cataloging system. Currently, we have built out only one aspect of our News system – Nigeria centric news. Expect African, International, Sports and Technology news to be added in the near future.
The Media and Topics sections are for Asorockers, our members. Add the latest from social media, interact, grow and have fun !!!
The Media section is close to what we intended – a place to share your social media discoveries with your fellow asorockers. If you are a youtuber or twitter fan, show us what peaks your interest by add links to your favorite videos and tweets.
The Topics section is a work in progress – expect fast and furious updates to Topics and the rest of the site.
I will post regular updates on our progress and we are counting on you to help us build and grow.
Asorock.com is a platform for change – help us make it happen.
UPDATE: Jan 29th offical luanch date of Asorock 3.0
Our switch to a brand new platform has been more rocky than I would have imagined.
After the cutover on Jan 12th, there has been a massive decline in traffic. Some of this decline I imagine, is due to the move from an ancient but less complicated UI, to something a little bit more modern. From previous experience, older version of the Opera mini browser can't load pages generated by the EndApps platform.
Also, we have been massively de-indexed by Google, losing over 1000 pages.
I see these two setbacks temporary and I expect traffic to return and eventually surpass normal levels.
We have made a lot of improvements between the 12th and the 29th notably in the media and news sections.
But, we still have a lot of work to do especially in the Topics and News sections - we are still missing over a dozen News pages.
Once we are happy with the website, we will stand up our iOS and Andriod Apps.
Exciting!
